  Hi

Couple of things. First we should decide a time. 9am Saturday mornings is ideal for me, but is that good for everyone It goes without saying about the wind. also we should decide a move.

And on another point when I walked down to collect my truck this evening it appears that it has been stolen oh no! It also had quite a bit of kit in the back. Quite funny really. So if anyone saw someone driving a red hilux wearing a mask or is offered any ezzy wave sails I'd appreciate it.

Seadweller, I'm definitely up for that! I get really lazy when I sail some days, would be good to focus on something other than crashing out my gybes on windy days....lol!

Sounds like a plan Alex, count me in. I know everyone thinks I wont listen but it's actually more a case of stuff takes a long time to sink in. I'll cry if I don't nail at least one good trick this year.

PS JP, please don't upset Emma. That's my job and I'm only allowed because she's bigger than me.

  Hi

I am trying to write this without upsetting anyone. So here goes.

Is there a few windsurfers who like the idea of getting together to discuss specific tricks with the hope of improving all our sailing. Perhaps focusing on one trick at a time. Looking at articles is really important but hearing from fellow sailors on how they learnt can be the key to opening the trick.
We also have a wealth of experience locally of good guys who I would think would enjoy chatting about their experience on learning chop hopping or duck gybing etc.
I do have a coffee bar with all the appropriate media but if the thought of that upsets anyone they would be absolutely welcome to bring a flask.

There. Hopefully that didn't offend anyone.

I'll try some of that next time I go for a gybe. Need to get away from those high speed depth charge exits off the back....lol!

Anyone heading to Fort Knox (aka East Beach) tomorrow arvo? I may be able to get there for the last bit of tide.

If you're falling mid-gybe then I'd say the key things are:

- Looking out the turn when you're dead downwind
- moving your hips to the inside of the turn (exaggerate massively)
- move the mast to the outside of the turn (exaggerate massively)

Let us know how yer get on!

HAHA, trying to gybe and getting very wet.

Yep, always stalling mid gybe and mostly falling off mid gybe. Spent all day Sunday trying it and got very wet and very tired. Great fun though.

Cheers for the tips. I will print them out for my next session. I WILL CRACK THIS !!!!

  Pmitch ... it's a nice shot - don't worry!

I take it you're gybing, so I'd say concentrate the next time you go out on where you look in your gybe. At that point in the picture, try looking to the left, your hips will follow the direction of your eyes and put pressure on the rail to turn, and if you really push the rig to the outside, you will turn better.

Also, straighten your front arm, as it will give you more distance from the rig, and you'll be less inclined to sink onto the back of the board which stalls the gybe.

Pete - nice to meet you! Come and say hi next time I see you at the beach? If there's anything I can help you with sailing wise just ask? I'll do my best to help!

JP - of course I'll give you Cliff aka Spartan's number. Email me on ray_emma@yahoo.co.uk as I don't think he'll want it posted up on the forum!

  First time post for me!

Emma, to be fair I don't think JP means to upset you. If it cheers you up though, although you don't really know me (Pete, I drive a black mondeo with a Vancouver Canucks sticker on the back), it's great to have a girl down there, you're a good laugh and I wish I could bloomin sail like you :-) It's a shame though, I think this whole East Beach thing has got everyone in a bad mood (myself included). I can see where Cliff is coming from too, I'm just a bit concerned we could end up with Maui style localism going on if we're not careful, but then the current state at EB could do that anyway! I agree with Uncle Toms comment, get the Tories out of Southend! I think we should ease up on the East Beach saga on the forum though, it needs to get back to a bit of fun.

JP - you've hurt my feelings. I really don't think I deserved that comment. Is bullying me on here enjoyable?

Guys, I kind of sympathise with Cliffs thoughts but not so much aimed at the kiters. My advice, if you want this area to survive is vote at the election and get the Tories out! This is just one of many disasters that have happened over the last few years. Sorry to get political!

Due to kite surfing, windsurfers have lost a lot of sailing areas all over the country.
The kiters should rally together and find a place where the public and windsurf don't go and possibly try to get some private beach or farm land that backs onto the sea. It's a selfish attitude that a lot of kiters don't care about those around them.

hi pmitch,no im not trying to get kiting banned, just to get the kite school moved away from eastbeach for a couple of years,to say west mersea island or frinton etc, as its the ESSEX KITE SCHOOL AND NOT THE EASTBEACH SCHOOL, this would take some pressure of the council and east beach.

  Hi
If the wind continues to hold I will be sailing off the coastguard out at spot X at about 5.30 either kite or windsurf (Unfortunately I don't get the time to get to canvay point) The swell in the channel is big but you only really want to sail it with company. Anyone around?

  Hello all. Great sail Sunday.

I would be very careful about trying to get one group banned or moved in favour of another. That could lead to all getting banned or moved. It could also lead to some very firey encounters at the beach which would not be nice.

At the end of the day, all everyone wants to do is sail, relax and have fun including the kiters.

We just need a place to park as we did before and for everyone to be sensible when driving in, out and round the car park. Including the kiters again. I watched one idiot drive in on Sunday like he was participating in the RAC rally

I've been under house arrest this week and the winds blowing, it's torture. I know how you worky types feel now.
